Dan Mahurin

Dan Mahurin serves as West Regional Director for Sunstar Insurance Group, helping drive strategic growth, operational excellence, and agency collaboration across Kansas and Sunstar’s Western Region. He also serves as President and CEO of Sunstar Insurance of Kansas, where he brings more than a decade of executive leadership and insurance industry experience. Since being appointed CEO in 2022, Dan has played a key role in shaping the organization’s strategic direction, accelerating growth, and reinforcing a customer-first culture. His leadership builds on a strong foundation that includes eight years as Vice President from 2014 to 2022.

Known for fostering innovation, developing high-performing teams, and leading with integrity, Dan emphasizes operational excellence and long-term value for clients, employees, and business partners. In his role as West Regional Director, he works closely with agency leaders to strengthen operations, support growth initiatives, and advance Sunstar’s long-term vision.

A former collegiate athlete, Dan earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri, where he excelled both academically and on the basketball court. He later completed a master’s degree at William Woods University, further strengthening his expertise in organizational leadership and business strategy.
