Tod Ashby

Tod Ashby serves as Chief Information Officer at Sunstar Insurance Group, leading the company’s technology strategy, enterprise infrastructure, and systems modernization efforts. He oversees enterprise architecture, cloud and cybersecurity strategy, data and reporting infrastructure, and technology integration initiatives that support Sunstar’s continued growth and acquisition strategy. Working closely with the executive leadership team, Tod plays a key role in advancing Sunstar’s Corporate Infrastructure priorities and building the scalable technology platform needed for long-term success.

Tod brings four decades of technology leadership experience within the insurance industry, with deep expertise in enterprise transformation, M&A due diligence and integration, cloud and infrastructure modernization, and cybersecurity governance. Throughout his career, he has held senior technology leadership positions at Prime Risk Partners, Assured Partners, HUB International, and Van Gilder Insurance Corporation, where he led enterprise infrastructure, compliance, and integration programs for rapidly growing organizations. His experience as a systems leader, governance architect, and CIO across multiple private equity-backed platforms enables him to drive strategic technology initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, support growth, and create lasting business value.

Tod graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Colorado Christian University. A fun fact about Tod is that he has been a lifelong drummer and had the opportunity to perform with a Grammy-winning artist as a teenager. Outside of work, he enjoys spending his free time reading and following his favorite Colorado sports teams, including the Colorado Rockies and Colorado Avalanche.
